Welcome to Rants and Raves!
I kept hearing that I needed to write, so here is the blog that I ended up starting.
It is mostly an accounting of my progression through creating a web site, nuances with code, and tips about what I did to make things work.
In there you will find sprinkled about some gems of life, and letting loose fun.
Enjoy!
MySQL In App
2022-07-02
So I investigated the Mysql in App a little bit. It seems very convenient to have a database right in the app and not have to manage a seperate resource. However, you still need to connect to the database as normal; surprising, I know. The hoops to jump through to make that happen have provided enough resistance that I'm not digging on it. Plus a very big downside is that you cannot remotely manage it. You have to manage through PHPMyAdmin (my current bane) and Kudu debug console.
Microsoft Azure
2022-06-25
I am anticipating going mobile, which means hosting my own site becomes difficult. Microsoft Azure has web hosting capabilities that are potentially free, if I stay withing certain boundaries. So I re-investigated Azure. Their free web app services do seem to potentially meet my current needs. It looks like they updated their app with database example, which the failure of getting that to work had been a hinderance to continue trying them. So... I upgraded the Azure account to the pay as you go
Showing Extra Spaces
2022-06-25
In HTML/CSS there is a feature that collapses white spaces to just a single space. So if you try putting a tab or a couple of spaces in a text block it will get reduced down to a single space. I wanted to have those extra spaces in my "On to a Rave" post, but coming from a database the   initialy seemed to be ineffective. What I ended up doing was adding inline styling to the HTML. Offhand I don't have enough going on to justify a custom CSS class, and as of right now I didn't investigate th
Showing Extra Spaces 2 (Apparently 500 Characters Isn't A Lot)
2022-06-25
I didn't investigate Bootstrap's CSS capabilities on this front yet. I used style="white-space: pre-wrap;". "pre" says to use the pre-defined spacing and prevents white space collapse. "wrap" allows the text to get placed on multiple lines if it is wider than its container.

I keep hearing that I need to start writing, so here goes. Thanks internet, now I'm writing. I shall call this blog (I guess) "Rants and Raves". Not much of a rant, but I guess I'll take it.
